2022: Year of Divine Facilitation and Discernible Fulfillment
TEXT: Ezra 7:6
TOPIC: The hand of God
INTRODUCTION: The hand is a tool of locomotion or movement. The hands do so much for us, grasping, feeling, holding, manipulating, caressing and more. Spiritually, it blesses and represents strength, protection and power. Because it does the will of the owner, it may symbolically represent the person or an extension of the person. The attribution of a hand to God called anthropomorphism is a human concept to visualize God or giving Him human descriptors. The hand of God can refer to His power and judgment whereby He can make and unmake, create and destroy. It can also represent His mercy and forgiveness (Ps 37:24). God moves to achieve His plans with His hands. It represents His intervention, facilitation or approval of human affairs. In essence it is the medium where God does everything by His Spirit and makes it to be easier or smoother running for His people and makes it harder for the enemy. It is also called the arm or the fingers as when the Egyptians could not replicate the miracle of God calling it the finger of God. God’s hand works closely with His mouth because whatever He speaks is effected by His hands (1 Ki.8:24). So when you can hear the mouth of God speak, you need to key into it. I don’t know the situation you are in this day, but I sure do need the hand of God upon my life now and hereafter.
1.The hand of God is Divine: The hand of God is a human term referred to as anthropomorphism. He is Spirit and so it is the Spirit of God that is in operation. We know that God created all things by the power of His Spirit. It is unlimited, irresistible and powerful so satan cannot stop what God wants to do in your life. When Ezra returned Jerusalem, the hand of God kept him safe along the way (Ezra 7:9). I pray that no power will be able to stand before you this coming year (Deut. 11:25; 2:25; 7:24; Ex.23:27; Josh.1:5). Whatever you have heard God say concerning you, He will perform with His hands. To draw down the Divine hand, prayer is essential as the prayer of Daniel in Daniel 9:2-19. It was the answer to his prayer that Ezra benefitted from.
- The hand of God is facilitative: When the hand of God is on a person, things become easy. You do not need to struggle. Ezra made request to the king and all his requests were granted. God had promised that whatever His mouth spoke, His hands would accomplish, making it easier for people who appropriate His promises. God spoke to Solomon and He accomplished His promise (1Ki.8:15). God also spoke to Jeremiah that He would cause His people to return to Jerusalem (Jer.30:3) and at this time fulfilled it. When the time came for them to return, God touched the hearts of the rulers of Babylon to release all that was needed by His people. Not only did the king and princes gave gifts, he commanded for the treasury in colonies to ensure finances were available, and even materials for sacrifices to the King of Heaven. To make worship easier, the king commanded for Ezra to appoint magistrates to effect the laws of God and the requisite punishment for disobedient people. I prophesy that in whatever area the enemy has been making things difficult and impossible for you, the God of heaven will neutralize the enemy’s work and make it easier for you in Jesus name. It may be in the area of answer to prayer; struggling to receive answers to prayers will be a thing of the past; if it is in the area of provisions, difficulty of getting provisions will be removed; in the area of protection, His everlasting arms will be underneath to protect you and His love will be a banner over you.
- The hand of God is Discernible: When God intervenes and His hand comes on anything, the things that are impossible in the natural become possible by the supernatural power of God. The experience of Ezra and the ease in which his requests were granted made him to discern that this was the hand of God and he acknowledged it several times in his book. Mary a natural woman, was expected to be with a man to conceive but (Lk.1:31, 34, 35, 38) but she conceived without a man. For those whose eyes were lightened they recognized this was the Lord’s doing. Joseph must have believed Mary was unfaithful until God lightened his eyes. Elizabeth was stricken in years and beyond menopause but when the hand of God came upon her, the pause button to fertility was un-paused. Neighbors whose tongues had been wagging about her barrier to pregnancy were confounded. They discerned this was only the work of God. The magicians of Egypt discerned the finger of God because their demonic powers could not compete (Ex. 8:16-19). I want to prophesy into the life of someone listening to me that no matter where the enemy has gone to, for power to oppress you, that power will be thrashed by the power of God and it will be apparent to everyone for the glory of God. I affirm that the hand of God used to burn the words spoken by God on the tablets of stone (Ex.31:18; Deut.9:10), and used by Jesus to cast out demons (Lk.11:20) will be visible to the world in your life. When I became saved, I went to my doctor who checked me before and exclaimed he could not believe the healing transformation in my health situation from hopeless to full health.
- The hand of God fulfills: The plans and purposes of God can never be frustrated because of His hand. He had spoken that he would return His people back to Jerusalem (Is. 14:24-27). It was a word out His mouth and since His mouth works with His hands, all that God says will be fulfilled (Jer. 29:11; Is.55:8-11). Ezra committed to the word of God and hence when he asked for permission from the king to go to Jerusalem, God had prepared soft landing for him. He would partake in the fulfillment of God’s spoken and written word. God’s word is superior to any other because His hand is there to perform it. Other gods have mouths but cannot speak, and hands but cannot save. That is why the bible enjoins us to live by every word that comes out of God’s mouth (Matt. 4:4). If you hear the word of God, grab it, run and live by it, for it is accompanied by God’s hand for fulfillment. The reason is that there is a correlation between faith and the hand of God. Whether you heard it or discover it by yourself, it does not matter with God. The bottom line is whether you believe it or not. Sometimes, the unbelieving need for their faiths to be stirred up, for God will use men to help men (Acts 3. 4-7). This is why we must witness. Faith comes by hearing the word. The righteous would do this and have a wonderful future (Ps. 37:37; Ps. 84:11).
